Copy changes only, really. Not my topic area, but I found it easy to follow. 7-day hold to Adabow. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 02:48, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Sammi Brie, thanks for a constructive review, and I found your commas in sentences guide really useful. I will be bookmarking it! I believe I have made all of the changes you have suggested. Adabow (talk) 09:10, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Copy changes
[edit]- a 75% majority of party delegates' votes As a non-technical article, this should be "per cent" per MOS:PERCENT. Several other cases of this in the article.
- Marama Davidson was elected as co-leader in the 2018 leadership election, and served continuously alongside Shaw. Remove comma (User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences)
- In mid-July 2022 it was reported that members of the party's youth wing, Young Greens, had expressed disappointment in Shaw's work as Minister for Climate Change and Associate Minister for the Environment, and sought to challenge his leadership at the 2022 AGM. Remove last comma (same reason)
- he party's 2022 AGM was scheduled to be held in Christchurch, but was moved online due to the prevalence of COVID-19 at the time, and particularly due to the risk of members from the North Island becoming infected and being required to isolate in the South Island Remove both commas and the second "due to".
- 75 delegates voted for Shaw and 32 voted to reopen nominations for Shaw's position. Add comma after "Shaw"
- Immediately following the AGM vote on 23 July, Shaw stated that he would take advice, but was "inclined" to stand for re-election Remove second comma
- University of Auckland political scientist Lara Greaves pointed to Swarbrick's 2020 upset victory in Auckland Central as evidence that she is a strong campaigner, and suggested that as co-leader she might motivate higher turnout amongst some voters. Remove comma
- Elizabeth Kerekere told media she was "considering options" and Teanau Tuiono Add comma outside the quotes after "options"
- Prior to the AGM vote, Davidson stated that much of the criticism Shaw receives relates to his role as Minister of Climate Change, but that Shaw works hard and had achieved a lot in the role, including a national emissions reduction plan. Remove the comma after "Minister of Climate Change"
Sourcing and spot checks
[edit]Earwig reveals no issues. The phrase "Marama Davidson and James Shaw" is flagged which does goose the numbers. The rest is attributed quotes.
Five of the 31 sources were chosen for a spot check:
- 2: Constitution of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand:
If a vacancy in any of the Co-Leader, Party Co-Convenor and Policy Co-Convenor positions occurs between AGMs, Kaunihera must: 5.9.1. Hold a ballot of delegates chosen by electorates as for an AGM; or 5.9.2. Call an SGM for that purpose; or 5.9.3. Defer the election to the next AGM if it will be held within three months.
- 22: Newshub report on Kerekere opting not to run.
- 24: Newshub report lists all three MPs mentioned as opting not to run.
- 25: NZ Herald:
A rule in the constitution, triggered by this second ballot, means that each delegate vote needed to be witnessed by other members, ensuring that no single delegate could vote against the wishes of their branch.
- 27: The RNZ report did not contain the 138 delegates figure. I have added a second reference invoke to [25] to fix this. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 02:48, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
