Hello! Isn't the season itself set to commence on November 1st?! Therefore these scrimmage games should be held in late OCTOBER instead; not November! Correct?? Thankyou.

No, that's not correct. Check the reference. --MikeVitale 18:21, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Table formatting

[edit]

@MikeVitale Don't want to go back and forth undoing each others edits lol. Just curious the justification for removing the reference column and putting the scopes in for the dates. Using 2024–25 NHL transactions and List of 2024–25 NBA season transactions as guidelines as a starter, I don't really see any reason to emphasize the date or attach the reference specifically to it. –uncleben85 (talk) 15:41, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the notice/question.
I dunno. It feels to me like having a "Ref" column is superfluous. I completely agree that other sports use them in tables like these. But when we're editing prose, we don't say something like "This is some text (Here's the reference: <ref>some ref</ref>)." That's what "Ref" columns feel like to me.
I'm not super beholden to removing the ref columns. I just don't think I like them.
Regarding your question about scope...MOS:DTT says that tables should have col and row scopes specified for accessibility; high priority. I personally don't use a screen reader, but I can absolutely get behind helping those who need screen readers have an easier time understanding tabular data. --MikeVitale 16:00, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not itching to put the ref column back. I just find putting in an existing column adds to the clutter, personally.
And isn't the scope only for when you have a header, though? So, "colscope", yes, but there's not a header on the rows? Just my two cents!
Again, just didn't want to keep accidentally or inadvertently undoing each others' work. I greatly appreciate what you do for this page and project 👊 –uncleben85 (talk) 16:04, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't the date itself the header? It's when the trade happened.
I've also done something similar for the Milestones tables -- the Date is the header for when the milestones happened, and it gets "rowgroup" scope along with "rowspan=X", which is a departure from how NHL teams do it: 2024–25 New York Rangers season#Milestones. --MikeVitale 16:08, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
