I've made ACSnet a separate topic, pointing the user to AARNET as a successor, and MHSnet|SUN3 as the software used to implement it. It clearly needs more work. One possible source of information is AUUGN - Australian UNIX Users Group Newsletter - it turns out that google has been scanning in issues so they are available on line.
