Official name in English

The Church's website still lists this temple as the Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple (not Côte d'Ivoire). Should this be changed to reflect that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by an unspecified IP address

We do not directly use information just from the Church's official list. In fact, if you look at the Church's official list of temples, you'll find temples listed under the "Announced" section that have had their groundbreakings and are actually now under construction. Most of the temple information shown here is based on information from a website independent of the Church, churchofjesuschristtemples.org, which clearly notes on the homepage that it is "not an official Church website". Information on that website shows that it is correct to use the French spelling and pronunciation for this temple's name. That can be verified through this page. Further, in mid-July, this article from the Church News noted the first president had been called for that temple. Although the name of the temple in that article did not use the French spelling, the article headline in question did. So right now, we have more sources, especially one independent of the Church, that use the French spelling. The spelling utilized by the Church of Jesus Christ Temples site has especially been determined to be used here on Wikipedia. In the next year or so, when the temple dedication is announced, odds are that the release will use the proper French spealling for the temple name. But in either case, for the time being, we go with what has been established most consistently by the sourcing available. Thank you for the inuqiry here. --Jgstokes (talk) 20:43, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
