WikiProject Medicine Student Changes

[edit]

Hi everyone! I'm a fourth year medical student taking a WikiProject Medicine course and I would like to update this article. I would like to make the following changes over the next four weeks:

I plan to add the following five sections in this article with appropriately related information from medical secondary sources:
Epidemiology
Etiology
Pathophysiology
Diagnosis
Management

I would appreciate any suggestions or comments regarding my plan to update this article. Thank you! Cabculto (talk) 16:26, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review WikiProject Medicine

[edit]

First suggestion, I would personally change the first and second sentences of the lead paragraph considering the first sentence doesn't actually describe what the topic is but only compares it to something else whereas the second sentence tells you what the topic actually is. The first sentence about being indistinguishable from hereditary should be put closer to the end of the paragraph where it talks about hereditary is usually in childhood. I think it might flow better.
The causes has great information but it is hard to read and difficult to get through. If there was a way to reorganize it with subheadings and then additional explanation on how it relates to the topic might make the read easier.
In the pathophysiology section, the explanation of the first part of the complement system may be too in-depth for the average reader, but I noticed that once I got to how C1-INH plays a role it made more sense. Maybe there is a picture that might show a visual representation of the complement system easy enough to understand, but I know that might be super difficult to find.
Overall, great information and great addition to the article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaw0589 (talkcontribs) 16:44, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the suggestions. For the first, I accepted your idea and I think revising the lead made a difference in improving the readability that I hadn't noticed before.
Next, I reorganized the causes section and I hope the logic is more apparent now and better categorized.
Lastly, finding a good picture that entails the complement system details and being freely accessible is tough to find. But I think I found a useful photo that I will add to the article.
I appreciate the honest feedback. Cabculto (talk) 05:31, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
