Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (it is valid, about a living person, is not libelous - it is just short) --2600:1700:1D50:7D70:B4BC:ADC8:A8C3:FF13 (talk) 00:21, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
This page should not be speedily deleted because it meets notability guidelines, such as Nactor. This is very different from previous versions where it did not meet Nactor. It is only due to the new Netflix series The Umbrella Academy that it now passes Nactor. This series was only released on Friday 15th February 2019, so before that date it was impossible to know how much of a role Aidan Gallagher would play (which is why the page was justifiably deleted), but now we know, so a deletion would be wrong. KeineMelon (talk) 00:34, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- WP:NACTOR doesn't trump WP:BASIC. There has been no in-depth coverage on the subject himself, even now, as far as I can tell. That may change in the next year or two, but until that changes, the former WP:AfD decision should be followed, and this should not be an article. I would suggest incubating a draft article in WP:Draftspace in the meantime. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 04:47, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I have removed the Speedy Deletion. I agree that the subject may now meet WP:NACTOR, and this article should not be deleted without discussion. Whether WP:NACTOR applies only when WP:GNG is met is debatable (and is a frequent source of dissension in AfDs, regarding this and other special notability guidelines). This page should not be speedily deleted because the guy has been nominated as a UN environment goodwill ambassador: http://www.unenvironment.org/news-and-stories/press-release/aidan-gallagher-named-un-environment-goodwill-ambassador
That seems a pretty notable achievement (esp. for a 15 year old). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:810B:4C0:1A63:B958:6DEA:BE75:5154 (talk) 01:13, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Sorry I'm new to this. You're suggesting Aidan should not have a page on Wikipedia?
He made history last year becoming the youngest United Nations Ambassador ever. That's worth looking into I believe.
I submitted a full and impressive page of his accomplishments maybe six months ago and still no page so I give up.
Further research suggested I need to pay to have an editor write a page so at that point I realized it was not worth it.
He is who he is regardless of a wiki page.
This page should not be deleted because it contains relevant information on the teenage actor Aidan Gallagher. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.131.180.41 (talk) 04:31, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Aidan Gallagher is an actor on a hot show at the moment and people would like to know more about him? I don't know?

is Aidan Gallagher Jewish?
[edit]Accrording to https://www.listal.com/aidan-gallagher_ii his mother is Ashkenazi Jewish. ArtGarf (talk) 10:40, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, his mother is. Although his father is Mormon (LSD). Aidahoo 11:45, 15 January 2021 UTC
- If these purported facts are true, based on reliable WP:BLP sources, why does this information not appear with source in the article? See closing section of Talk, as of this timestamp. 2601:246:C700:C:3146:F9A5:125:6AA4 (talk) 16:07, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Change his age from 17 to 18 Hi.Im.editing.here (talk) 00:50, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi.Im.editing.here, it has changed automatically. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:56, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
It hasn’t changed on my side yet. Do you know why that would be? Hi.Im.editing.here (talk) 01:38, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Hi.Im.editing.here: It should be based on your timezone, else it is possible you had loaded a version prior to the change that is presenting from cache now. — IVORK Talk 02:51, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

77.29.203.60 (talk) 18:07, 18 February 2022 (UTC) there is mistake in the years of the actor
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:13, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Two requests
[edit]First, create a standard "Early life and education" section. If necessary, put in one sentence regarding his DOB, and add the expand section tag. Urged, because the actor did not spring fully formed into this universe at age 10. There was, somewhere, sometime, someone encouraging him, inspiring him, teaching him, maybe even driving him to auditions. This is part of the history and a good biography does not ignore it.
Second, lose the semi-protected edit status as early as practically possible. The subject is too early in the arc of their career, the article too immature / undeveloped, the subject too non-controversial to take a lazy editor's path to protecting the article by locking out edits. Open it up. If in doubt, drop a line to Jimbo and ask founders' intentions regarding restricted editing. Same time, if your commitment to anonymous editing is wavering, raise that matter with him as well. (If, that is, you do not already know his answers.)
Cheers, from a hundreds-of-thousands-of-edits retired editor committed to anonymous GA WP BLP work, and to WP:VERIFY (matters of which aren't efficiently addressable in restricted articles). 2601:246:C700:C:3146:F9A5:125:6AA4 (talk) 16:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
Kudos to past editors, with regard to WP:VERIFY
[edit]Kudos to all past editors comtributing to the high quality of sourcing for this article, in particular with regard to this category of article (entertainment / actors). The article is very well done, and I thank previous editors for the very hard work. In support of WP:VERIFY, I would like to skim and check sources at some point, and I will wait to do this until the semi-protected status is lifted.
Two minor requests. Two sentences deserve, prima facie, the [better source needed] message (or, alternatively, the [third-party source needed] — open this Talk entry in the editor to copy this markup, with dates, to make these edits easy for you. The reason for this is obvious — his DOB information is currently solely from self-published and self-interested sources (actor statements regarding age being a perennial attribute requiring thrid-party sourcing), and the statement that he is Jewish, likewise based solely on a non-third-party source. It is not that one of these cannot stay at each point. It is that additional independent sourcing is required by WP:VER. Cheers. 2601:246:C700:C:3146:F9A5:125:6AA4 (talk) 16:18, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
