Specials

While the sources do indicate they are specials (using one word); I think it should be discussed, as these episodes were not at all different to the regular episodes at all. The article also says "more" of the show. The whole show All Star Family Feud is a series of specials in itself. Therefore saying two episodes are specials seems redundant. The episodes air at different times throughout the year - that is the nature of the show. I think the use of the word special should be interpreted as "a new ASFF special" rather than "a special episode of ASFF" - they're all specials. I would consider it as a Family Feud special. There are also two more episodes airing in the next two weeks - The Bachelor themed on Sunday 6th Nov and News reader-themed on Monday 14th Nov. Will these continue to be specials? How do we distinguish this? SatDis (talk) 09:33, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi SatDis, although I created the article I did not create the Specials subsection of the episodes. However, when I saw your removal of the section I investigated and found those articles which stated they were specials. Now as you said, the content of the episodes does not differ to the other episodes listed. However, in Australia a television special is usually defined as one which airs at a special time. Given the previous episodes aired in consistent timeslots (e.g. at least one episode a week in the same timeslot for a period of multiple episodes), and these episodes are airing sporadically (the are airing on different days, with some having weeks between episodes), I would consider them to be specials. I would also like to note that I disagree with your characterisation of all episodes being "specials". Although the series is a spin off of the original series, it is a regular series in and of itself. As such, there is a difference between these latter episodes and the earlier episodes. However, Wikipedia is a democracy so obviously whether the episodes are listed as part of the entire list or separated will be decided by a majority vote. I agree with both of you that the formatting and scheduling of this program makes it difficult to section episodes in the usual manner. At first, I was inclined to agree that the two episodes listed as specials (Wentworth/Prisoner and Survivor) were indeed more like specials, however there are further episodes now scheduled, so I don't think they or the subsequent episodes should be counted as specials. Whether or not they are part of season 1 or the beginning of season 2 is difficult however. They all form part of a series, so I think it is difficult to describe any of them as specials, but when the network and/or media describe them as such, it is difficult not to here. -- Whats new?^(talk) 02:52, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the discussion! Forbesy 777, I didn't consider how the episodes have aired at a special time, and this does make sense. However, as Whats new? has added; the upcoming episodes indicates that the show no longer has a specific airing day and time. I completely agree that it's a spin-off series in itself, I kind of meant they all feel like specials because it is a spin-off and therefore more special than the original Family Feud show. I would suggest to keep it simple, all 2016 episodes should be "series 1" and 2017 episodes to be "series 2" (now that it has been renewed).
