AMW's initial budget was $115,000 per episode, but the show's reality-style format and near-real time captures (some fugitives were captured before the episode's final credits rolled) contributed to its success. Near-real time captures? What's that? --Abdull 09:40, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it means that some fugitives were captured right when their profile aired Coasttocoast 02:52, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But I think you're right, "near-real time" isn't the best term. I changed it to "nearly instantaneous". Hoof Hearted 13:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First international capture

[edit]

I'm from Nova Scotia and I'm somewhat interested in knowing more about that first international capture. Does anyone know who it was? Shinyplasticbag 02:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to archive.org, I can tell you that the first international capture was Capture #23: Joseph Kindler. He was captured in Canada on September 6, 1988. Unfortunately, that's all the information I have available. Hope this helps! --PAK Man + 02:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More Canadian cases...specifically...

[edit]

There was little coverage about a man in St John's, Newfoundland, who kidnapped his three sons from their home and fled the "Island", but not before booby-trapping the house so that the RNC and RCMP would suffer mass casualties upon entry...any more info about this case?...Michaela92399 02:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's the name of the person involved? --PAK Man Talk 03:04, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the name escapes me at the moment, but maybe the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary could provide the info, or somebody who lives in St. John's can help out w/ this...Michaela92399 02:04, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The first capture outside of the US, I believe, was in fact in Saint John NB Canada, and while I forget his name, the criminal was found and captured while working for A_Z Rentals on Rothesay Ave. in 1988. The TV stations here at the time, CHSJ, MITV, and ATV all reported on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nbmike (talkcontribs) 23:47, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Currently

[edit]

About 4 times the word "currently" is used. Especially where it says "currently in its 20th season", I think that maybe it should specify a date or a time range, or something like "as of ...". --62.195.99.142 13:55, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the 21st season is beginning in a couple of weeks, so that should be changed very soon. As for the captures, it should probably say the date as of the latest capture. I'll go through and fix it. --PAK Man Talk 21:34, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Effectiveness

Has there been objective or independent evaluations of the effectiveness of this program? Imagine Reason (talk) 01:36, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Odd tone.

[edit]

This article's tone seems to be too celebratory, and may be close to advertising. --Newtown11 (talk) 17:38, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of apprehensions as a result of the show?

[edit]

Can we have a list of criminals apprehended as a result of this show? ScienceApe (talk) 15:10, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Given the fact that over 1000 fugitives were apprehended because of tips generated by users of the show, any list would probably be a wee bit too long for an entry on Wikipedia.74.134.145.218 (talk) 01:01, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on America's Most Wanted. Please take a moment to review my edit.
