Plot

[edit]

Can someone write-up a summary? (atleast something from some press release or other) The trailer makes it look like a Nikita remake, but is it? -- 70.51.201.106 (talk) 08:11, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is not overtly a remake but it does repeat some similar story points as Nikita. You don't need to take my word for it, if you pick through the critics you can find reliable sources that say the same in various different ways.
A minor note on the plot: the film uses many flashbacks to show some of Anna's childhood and to retell the parts of the story repeatedly from different perspectives. The brief plot summary does not currently give any indication of that structure (but it is easy enough to follow and makes sense but is a little clunky does not flow particularly well). -- 109.78.229.145 (talk) 01:20, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A beautiful woman

[edit]

User:Natg 19 has repeatedly removed the fact that Anna is a beautiful woman from the plot section. This even after I explained that this is relevant to the plot as 1. it explains how she became a model 2. it explains that she could be used as a honey trap by the KGB. Debresser (talk) 22:08, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will not remove this again. In my opinion, the "a beautiful woman" line adds nothing to the plot summary, and doesn't explain anything. I don't think it explains her becoming a model, nor how she is used as a honey trap. Natg 19 (talk) 22:11, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is even a line in the film where Olga, who initially is very skeptical about Anna's potential, says that she is good-looking and can at least be used as a honey trap. Debresser (talk) 12:17, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't wrong but it could be better written, it is not untrue but it seems undue to emphasize it in precisely that way and without also mentioning any of her other characteristics. (Models are not necessarily conventionally beautiful but in most cases it is redundant to point out that a model is considered beautiful.) There are other aspects of her background that might also be mentioned, such as her sharp mind, her anger, that she plays chess, that she is an orphan, or to put it another way that she is without family ties. The story specifically states that she is recruited despite her looks not because of them. The plot section could certainly be a bit more nuanced, while still keeping it short and to the point. -- 109.78.229.145 (talk) 01:29, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Language listing is wrong.

[edit]

It's not English, it's half English and half Russian. And the Russian dialogue is not subtitled.--JaredMithrandir (talk) 23:43, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree per Variety here and made changes. Let me know your feedback. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 01:15, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You added the information I felt was missing, so my feedback is good job. --JaredMithrandir (talk) 14:44, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Don't make assertions show sources.
Variety is a start but you failed to include it as an inline reference. Template:Infobox_film#language recommends looking at BBFC.com and if you check the "Details" section it lists only English, so by the standards most other articles follow there is no need to list Russian as a secondary language.
The film it is predominantly in English with only a small amount of Russian (certainly not half the film), and there were subtitles when I saw it on theatrical release. I do not think it is a big deal to list two languages, but also it is unnecessary and not in keeping with standard practice. -- 109.77.209.39 (talk) 15:34, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
