Nationality[edit]

To refer to Cartellieri as "polish-austrian" makes absolutely NO sense. Especially "austrian" is completely lacking any historical background. Check the other Wikipedias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.132.53.53 (talk) 20:28, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Polish emigrant[edit]

Danzig/Gdansk where he was born was the last remnant of Polish control in Royal Prussia from about the year of his birth until 1793.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:18, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since he left for Berlin at age 13, that would have been about 1785. In 1785 Danzig was part of the Poland. So he was moving from Poland to the Kingdom of Prussia.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:19, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • On further reivew, when he moved out of Danzig in 1785 it was actually part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, since that entity existed until 1795. That is the place I have no categorized him as having emigrated from.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:21, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
