Music Video[edit]

You are right. I have the book in front of me. "Bass: athletes with small heads and big legs, because they are hysical(sic), move constantly and have no time to think. Description of the song in terms of functional harmony[edit]

The current description in the article reads a bit awkwardly to me... "playing in two different keys at the same time" is a rather odd way to describe it:

The key is surely E minor, with the 4 bar repeated chord chord progression behind the song a fairly straightforward |: Am | C | Em | Em :| ... and the synth and vocoder phrases pick out the 9th (F#) quite determindley - it's just that the "funky" bass line frequently passes through F natural in that fairly common bluesly funk way, which is a flattened 9th - but that's just an added passing note, expanding the vocabulary of E minor somewhat - but this thing is COMMON, not bizarre.

Mr. Roboto[edit]

I added a bit about the video being somewhat inspired by the Styx song, Mr. Roboto. It was reverted by Just64helpin because of Original research, which upon reflection, I realize it is. So, I'm not going to put the tidbit back in. I would like to note however, the similarities are apparent when watching both videos, but a quick google search yields very few people also noticing this (those that do are blogs). If anyone else can find any decent source that makes this connection, we could put it back in or at least note that some people see similarities.

Source of Around the World sample[edit]

Jerry Goldsmith - The Rec Room was a song that Around the World sampled from, I think it would be worth noting this, as well as what filters/effects they put on it to make it sound like it did (which i would like to know as well).Goatonastik (talk) 12:15, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard to say if Daft Punk used that song as a sample. Discovered and Palm Out Sounds aren't reliable as Discovered had no involvement with Daft Punk or Virgin Records and Thomas Bangalter has stated that half of the samples on POS are incorrect. Talk Box, not vocoded[edit]

Hi there, I am pretty sure that this song's lyrics were recorded in a talk box, not a vocoder from what I've heard. I'm pretty sure it's talkbox regardless of the actual source from Michel Gondry's DVD. This video (sorry for the lower quality but there used to be a better video of this) is Bangalter in the studio with DJ Mehdi producing the beat for 113's "Fout La Merde" with a talkbox I think. Bangalter decided to have fun and started to sing the famous chant that we all know from Around the World. I know this is all original research but I wish there was a legit source about this . Title wrighter?[edit]

I'm a fan, I love it and remember watching the video all the time with my friends back in the days. Still I wonder: Around the World is the title right? Saying it in loop qualify as song wrighting? Did they had to be two to do so much? It's a bit ironical, I'll admit, ain't, since I almost laught out lough when I saw it, I had to ask if it's an error.
