I'm hoping to resolve a conflict in timelines. The page reads the first IFMAR race was in 1971 at Thorp Raceway. IFMAR was not organized until 1979. I'm pretty sure that was a ROAR Nationals race since there was not a world sanctioning body yet and ROAR was started in 1967. If you look up IFMAR on the wiki site, it shows it wasn't started till 1979.
Just hoping to make timelines a little more clear so that the sport of R/C is not mis-represented.
Thanks - Sean
Sean, The year of the race, which was not given in the article, was 1977. According to a 1983 IFMAR race program owned by Roger Curtis, the first championship was held in 1977, it was won by "Buch Kroll" (or Butch Kroell). IFMAR's own magazine states that 1977 was the first WC race. I have 3 page scans of this program establishing this. See it posted online at http://www.teamassociated.com/about/ifmar_winnings/ I hope this clarifies this.
