Intended Changes to the Aufbau (Journal) Page[edit]

On this page, I intend to provide more clarity on the history of the Aufbau journal. I will do this by adding to the current information, providing citations to the preexisting information, and citing new sources to new information. First, I will provide a citation for the initial purpose of the Aufbau journal. Next, and perhaps the biggest contribution, I will add a timeline to the page. The timeline will contain the years of its creation and primary evolution between 1933 and 1941. The timeline information will come from the source, The World of Aufbau: Hitler’s Refugees in America by Peter Schrag. This is a reliable source because Peter Schrag was himself a refugee from Nazi Germany who has many years of experience in researching, writing, and educating about that time period. Furthermore, the secondary source itself was written as a guide to understanding the Aufbau publication and its inherent influence. It was published by the University of Wisconsin Press, an academic source, which also adds to the credibility. The timeline would include the information that already exists on the page, but it would be added to with additional information from the secondary source. Next, in the next section, “Archives, curated collections, and reproductions”, I plan to eliminate this title altogether and simply name it “publications and additions”. I do not plan on taking out any of the information there, but consolidating it into a section more focused on the publication and examples of particular issues using Shrag’s book. Lastly, I plan to add more citations to the Aufbau Index Project section using the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website as a source. This is a reliable source because the website provides a reference page as to what the Project is, what it entailed, and what it achieved.
