Figures comparison

[edit]
checkY Matter resolved

Just to make it clear of my recent correction, in the first paragraphs states: "the Indonesia's air passengers increased from 27,421,235 (2009) to 94,504,086 (2014)".[1] Let's do the math: 94,504,086 ÷ 27,421,235 = 3.4463832865295819. This translate to: compared to 2009 the figure in 2014 is 3.44 times larger, which simply also means the increase in 2014 is over three folds of the figure in 2009. Thus demonstrate the spike of Indonesian air travel in this period. Of course the "threefolds" is not mentioned in the reference per se, but it is the interpretation of the given data. Gunkarta  talk  04:20, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ "Data: Air transport, passengers carried". The World Bank.
The figures you cite are incorrect, per the source you provided. Under the Indonesia section of the source, it states 2006-2010 was 88,594,513 and that 2011-2015 was 94,504,086. There is no 2009 bracket in the source; the 2006-2010 bracket is the closest to it. As such I have modified the article to reflect what the source states. Perhaps you have another source that backs up the figures you provide, because the one you cite does not. I have rewritten this content in the lead to read as follows below. North America1000 09:21, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In 2006-2010 the number of Indonesia's air passengers was 88,594,513, and between 2011-2015 the number of passengers was 94,504,086.

No.. no.., you read the column incorrectly, the figure 88,594,513 is located in the 2013 column (the blue-greyish bold year ones), not the 2006-2010 which is actually a link to that period (years span). Okay.., let me guide you step by step on how to access the World Bank data on specific year, look at this link: [1] now click the 2006-2010 section and the screen will show this page:[2] follow the column 2009 to Indonesia and you will find the figure: 27,421,235. The figure between 2009 and 2014 shows a tremendous change which is more than three folds.  Gunkarta  talk  11:54, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks for the clarification, and for adding the link to the 2009 World Bank page to the article, which previously was not there. The content is now properly verified in the article. North America1000 12:19, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have put the ref of World Bank 2009 data there sooner. Thank you... Gunkarta  talk  14:05, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

[edit]

This is a very high-quality article and very close to meeting the GA standards. I don't think it should take long at all to pass GA.

  • It would be nice to have a better source for the number of islands - no information on the current source is easy to find in either language.
  • Move the statistics on air carriers and government aircraft above the future projections in the lede.
  • In the sentence "Indonesian aviation faces numerous challenges, including poorly maintained, outdated, and often overwhelmed infrastructure,[6] the factor of human error, bad weather, haze problems caused by plantation fires, and volcanic ash spewed by numerous area volcanoes that disrupts air transportation", there is the sublist of 'poorly maintained, outdated, and often overwhelmed infrastructure' inside the larger list. You may wish to divide this sentence into two parts, or to use semicolons to divide the larger list.
  • The lists of how many airports have paved and unpaved runways should be converted into wikitables.
  • "In Indonesia, there are 22 commercial scheduled airlines with more than 30 passengers (AOC 121), and 32 airlines for commercial scheduled airlines with 30 or less passengers and chartered airlines (AOC 135)". Is this more than 30 passengers per flight? What does AOC mean? The citation for that sentence also needs to be formatted into a template.
  • The list of accidents takes up almost half of the length of the article; this is probably undue weight. It should probably be split into a separate article; I believe List of accidents and incidents involving airliners in Indonesia is the standard name.

Overall, these are relatively minor issues and should be quick to fix for promotion. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:18, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your review, I've done some of your request/suggestions. Gunkarta  talk  19:27, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Great work, it's definitely GA quality now. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 03:08, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
