Mistake

[edit]

The battle is not part of the World War I, because it happened after the signing of Brest-Litovsk treaty. It is part of the Soviet-Ukrainian War as the Soviet forces occupied territory of Ukraine without announcing a war. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 01:17, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not true. It is about Czechoslovak Legion fighting the German Army. Czechoslovaks were not a party to Brest-Litovsk and were still at war with Central Powers.46.39.169.168 (talk) 00:39, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The peace treaty did not apply to the Czechoslovak legions, they fought primarily against Germany and against Soviets. The Eastern Front disappeared. So if the legionnaires wanted to take part in the fighting against Germans, they had to travel to the Western Front in France. However, the journey through Europe was impassable, so the legions were left with only transport through Vladivostok. Legionnaires fought against the Germans in France and Italy. Legionnaires took control of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the largest cities of Siberia. During 1919, however, it became clear that aid from Russian anti-revolutionary forces and Western allies against the Soviets would not come. In 1920, therefore, more than 60,000 Czechoslovak legionnaires left the Russia with ship transports.Jirka.h23 (talk) 09:08, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
