Strength

[edit]

Nobody has any further information? It is clear that the Vietminh outnumbered the French forces but some numbers would be good. 3 Divisions. A Division is usually 10,000 to 30,000 Men, while the Vietcong Divisions were more often "only" 10,000 Men like in the first big Battle between US forces and Vietcong (Battle of Ia Drang ("We were Soldiers" with Mel Gibson). So Vietminh had at between 30,000 and 90,000 Men. I think 30,000 to 45,000 being realistic.

The Strength of a French Brigade in the 50's ... I don't know. 8 Brigades is strange, since 8 Brigades together are more than 1 Division. In Germany today a Brigade is between 1,500 and 5,000 Men. Maybe someone have numbers! Greetings and sorry for spelling errors -- Kilon22 (talk) 13:12, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
