Delete the sentence "These men were known as Praying Indians." See Nathaniel Philbrick's "Mayflower", pg 191 - 192.

There's been a few edits in favor of considering this fellow a member of the United States Army. Sorry, guys - my organization didn't exist yet! He was an Englishman, and to all purports was proud of that fact. LTC David J. Cormier (talk) 23:20, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also - I find his ending rank was major. I updated his data, just as one wouldn't refer to Napoleon as Corporal Bonaparte. I did read somewhere that he was promoted to LTC before his death, but that'll have to wait until I can cite a source. I added some information about his first raid on Acadia. LTC David J. Hi, this edition[1] of 'King Philip's War' has a timeline of Church's life. It doesn't state his actual date of promotion, but begins referring to him as Col. from page xxxiii. It's not very clear in the pic included in the article, but you can also see that rank on his tombstone here[2].--The One True Fred (talk) 17:42, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
