Better photo available?

[edit]

Anon editor at 68.50.200.8 asks: He deserves a better online photograph than the one at the right. Perhaps one of the terrific ones from his memoir, "At Random."

Green Eggs & Ham $50 wager rumour

[edit]

The article said the 'rumor' was 'most likely untrue'. If it's a rumour, it should be enough to say that it's a rumour and leave it at that. However it might be confirmed by one or both of the following reference works:

  • MacDonald, Ruth K. Dr Seuss.

Boston: Twayne Publishers, 1988. ISBN 0-8057-7524-2 (pp. 138-139).

  • Silverman, Betsy M. "Dr. Seuss Talks to Parents."

Parents. November 1960 (p. 13

Both of which are cited in the Snopes urban legend reference page as evidence of the rumour's veracity: http://www.snopes.com/language/literary/greenegg.htm

If anyone who has one or both of these books can confirm this, this would be appreciated. Thanks. DavidFarmbrough 15:58, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article contains a quote by Helen Geisel, Dr. Suess' widow. This cannot be, because Helen Geisel committed suicide in 1967, 24 years before Dr. Suess' death. Perhaps the writer meant AUDREY, who was in fact widowed by the death of the Doctor. Shoshani (talk) 16:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interview with Chris Cerf, questions wanted

[edit]

Got a question for Chris Cerf, Bennett's son? Post your questions before 25 April 2005. -- Zanimum 18:11, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

damn too late

Honorary Degree

[edit]

Cerf received an honorary degree (doctorate) from the University of Puget Sound. I cannot find a citation, but I just saw an episode of What's My Line? where he announced he was about to receive such a degree. (Was on GSN's 12:00am PST episode of the show, 29 Dec 2008... May be useful for citing? I am not citing guru.) -- Slythfox 00:43, 29 December 2008 (PST)

Jonathan Cerf

[edit]

Why does Jonathan Cerf link to Bennett Cerf? StN (talk) 04:51, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan is one of Bennett's children. From the article history for Jonathan Cerf, it seems there was a short article about him, but it lacked reliable sources to show that he is notable, so an editor redirected it to the article about his father. If sources can be found for a separate article about Jonathan, or if there is another notable person with that name, I don't think there would be any problem with replacing the redirect with a regular article. --RL0919 (talk) 15:17, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Location of Cerf Lane

[edit]

Is Cerf Lane off of Croton Avenue in Mt Kisco? Ileanadu (talk) 15:39, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Yes, it is. Cerf Lane intersects Croton Avenue about 500 feet north of Saw Mill Parkway. GroveGuy (talk) 02:57, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Walk of Fame star

[edit]

According to the Walk of Fame website he has a star for television (as the other WML panelists and John Daly). I guess a mention of it (if true but why shoudn't it) would be good in the article. Maybe a pic as well if available. Cassandro (talk) 22:23, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Seizure of Ulysses

[edit]

Cerf's version of the seizure of Joyce's Ulysses is flawed. See Reliability of Bennett Cerf's Account in Talk:United States v. One Book Called Ulysses. Cerf was a better raconteur than historian, even of events in which he was personally involved. Kablammo (talk) 02:09, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
