Confusion
[edit]There were two singers called Bessie Brown. According to Eagle and LeBlanc in Blues: A Regional Experience, and also The Blues Encyclopedia, they were:
- Bessie Brown, born in Texas, c.1895, married George W. Williams, died in Cincinnati, Ohio, 1964 - toured with TOBA, recorded 1923-26 for Columbia, including duets with Williams, retired from performing 1932.
- "The Original Bessie Brown", born in Ohio, c.1895, died in New York, 1955 - recorded in Cleveland 1925-29, on Perfect, Vocalion and Brunswick labels, used pseudonyms Caroline Lea and Sadie Green.
Of course, these sources may be confused - if so, they are confused in a different way to this article. If these sources are not confused, then the article may be. Or, I am. Any suggestions? Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:58, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
