In December, 2019 Mahajan said that BJYM would publicize the work of the Modi government at the grassroots level and on the social media.^[1]

The source nowhere says that the "BJYM hopes to play a major role" in anything, yet that's what you wrote and "supported" with the source. What the source does say, exactly, is that "[Mahajan] said the BJYM will carry out campaign at the grassroots level and on the social media," presumably "to publicise the work of the Modi government at the grassroots level."
