POV

[edit]

This last addition:

Throughout it all, Budge's modest personal style was unchanged by the publicity. Other prominent 1980s game designers struggled with drugs or were blinded to flaws in their games by press clippings that called them visionaries. Budge never confused his public image with his private self, and the EA producers who worked with him have unanimously described him as gracious, modest and easy to work with during this entire era.

is POV. I didn't take it out, but it really needs to be sourced. Frecklefoot | Talk 14:24, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto for:

In the early to mid-1980s Budge was the best known game designer in North America, and the first person in the industry to legitimately be described as famous.

What about John Harris? Richard Garriott? Dan Bunten? Bob Bishop? Nasir Gebelli. Deleted 5 September 2006.

What does he do now?

[edit]

Could we get some more info included on Budge's current occupation? Dxco 19:26, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I tried. What I could find is in the article: semi-retired. — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:36, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
According to my "rolodex", he's still Lead Tools Engineer at Sony Computer Entertainment of America. I'll see if I can verify. Applegamer 01:09, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I emailed Bill, and he told me he's still at Sony, working on tools. He writes (with permission to share on Wikipedia): "I am currently working on a component framework for building authoring tools. This enables us and our internal game teams to build graphical editors for creating game content. We started out with a tool to edit procedural audio effects, and have moved on to level editors and procedural animation editors. We have clients in America and Europe building tools as well. Kind of like making Pinball Construction Set, but for use by game teams! So I guess there's a common thread in my work. I've always loved building software, and building software to help others build games." Applegamer 17:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nice quote. Too bad we can't include it in the article. It sounds like you know him personally. Is that so? — Frecklefoot | Talk 17:26, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Software title

[edit]

We had a copy of the 1981 app titled in this article "3-D Games Tool" but the version we had was called "3-D Graphics Tool" and it wasn't specific to games; my father, a teacher, used it to create educational tools. 50.66.121.20 (talk) 23:26, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
