Black River (Vietnam)Da River — Original name, helps to avoid disambiguation. Beagel (talk) 16:18, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • What does "original name" mean? I would prefer to go with the most common name than worry about convenience. Any evidence of English usage? The CIA map with the article uses Black River and the newspaper cited uses Đà River. — AjaxSmack 03:11, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Oppose move per no response/no evidence. — AjaxSmack 02:19, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • After a quick search on Google Books for "Black River" and "Da River", it would seem that the two are just about equally common; the main difference being that publications meant for tourism, such as guidebooks, seem to lean towards the use of "Da River" or "Song Da River", whereas publications about the Vietnam War lean towards "Black River". This would seem to indicate that "Black River" was primary usage during wartime. IMO, I'd say leave the name as it is. Disambiguation's not really a problem, as there's already a redirect, and the dual usage is already outlined in the lead. Oppose move. --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 03:08, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
