1996 agreement here; or as a new article

[edit]

Kautilya3: Do you think it would be better to mention the 1996 agreement over here or should a new article be created — Agreement on Confidence-Building Measures in the Military Field Along the Line of Actual Control in the India-China Border Areas? DTM (talk) 14:09, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The main problem I find is that a lot of people play a lot of lip service to the agreements. When we look into them, we are gobsmacked that they are crystal clear! None of the present confrontation should have happened if they had been followed!
So my primary objective would be to provide succinct summaries so that people can actually read them and understand what the agreements say. The stupidly long titles and the number and plethora of agreements all seem to me to be exercises in obfuscation, which we need to eschew.
So if it is clear that the 1996 agreement (which should be called "Agreement on Military Confidence Building Measures") was a follow-up to the 1993 agreement, I would say that it should go here as a section, and the connection with the BPTA should be clearly identified. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:39, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

History of the phrase "Peace and tranquility"

[edit]

Is there any history on the phrase "Peace and tranquility" anywhere; in relation to any topic? The phrase itself goes back as early as 17th century according to a quick google query. I can find absolutely nothing on the phrase itself. DTM (talk) 14:54, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have a feeling that it was P.V. Narasimha Rao's coinage [1]. Whether he took from some other pre-existing context, I don't know. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 17:25, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
