I added links to this page on the Volkstrauertag page. Probably they should be combined.

Also, I was puzzled by the reference to HRE Charles V instituting this as a "Protestant" holiday, since he was a devoted Catholic. I wonder if the day of repentance in that era had something to do with the lifting of the Ottoman siege of Vienna in late October 1529, after his brother accepted the Hungarian crown, or with the army Charles brought to Vienna in September 1532, only to find the Ottoman advance had been stopped by valiant Croatians who withstood the Siege of Güns.Jweaver28 (talk) 19:46, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of things

[edit]

Shouldn't the opening line give the English meaning of the name ?

The history going back to the old testament seems excessive.

Wrong date calculation

[edit]

I don't quite understand how this happens, but the template that calculates the date of Buß- und Bettag gets the date wrong.

The expression is the same as on the German page – but the German page says it should be 16 November 2022, whereas this one says it's 23 November 2022.

This is evidently wrong if you check other sources and consider that the article says "it is the Wednesday that falls between 16 and 22 November".

My best guess is that this is due to differences in whether Monday or Sunday is considered the first day of the week, but I don't know enough Wikipedia magic to solve this matter. Is someone else more knowledgable in this regard? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:CB15:408:CF00:5B4:D7EF:3B56:DD46 (talk) 23:12, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
