T Street exit?

[edit]

At the interchange with U.S. 50 and I-80 BL (SR 51), there is an exit for T Street signed as exit 6C (in correlation with the exit numbers for the latter). It doesn't appear to be acknowledged in the exit list either here or on the page for I-80 BL. Since SR 99 is considered to follow U.S. 50 westbound and I-80 BL doesn't join the freeway until after the exit, is this exit considered irrelevant or should it be acknowledged somewhere? The exit lists were originally devised from a utility on Caltrans web pages called CalNEXus, many years ago. It's likely that either that exit was ommitted from the CalNEXus logs, or didn't exist, when all this work was done to create the Wikipedia articles. Most roadgeek websites, including roadgeek specific clones of Wikipedia, would accept a photo, or even Google Street View as proof the exit does exist and include it. The problem we have for Wikipedia is the insistence of everything be backed up by a 3rd party, reliable source. This puts us in a bind if those sources are in error (As they sometimes are with roads). Do we have an accurate article or a verifiable article, when we have to choose between the two? Common sense says the former, but Wikipedia policy says the latter. Do you know of some documentation that this exit exists? Looking at Google Maps it looks like this exit ramp is kindof in nomans land, as it is after the ramp that provides the implied connection for CA-99 splits from the main trunk. However, you're not wrong, while Caltrans likely includes it as a ramp from CA-51, as it is is impossible to access it from CA-51, CA-99 is probably the more logical choice as to where to put it. Found it. Yes, Caltrans counts it as an exit from US-50 Business, though ironically it's not accessible from that road. https://dot.ca.gov/-/media/dot-media/programs/safety-programs/documents/exit/f0017925-bl80-a11y.pdf Dave (talk) 23:05, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So which article should it be listed at, if any? Should it follow the Caltrans listing? --ForeverStamp (talk) 18:00, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good question. Apparently from a documentation standpoint that exit belongs to US-50 Business. But from a practicality standpoint it's an exit from CA-99. I'm leaning towards matching the official documentation and say it belongs on US-50 Business, but could be persuaded otherwise. Dave (talk) 18:57, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The signage also follows the official documentation, since the exit is numbered 6C. --ForeverStamp (talk) 19:19, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say go ahead and add it. We might need to play around with some kind of note or footnote, but we can see after it is added. Worst case someone doesn't like it and clicks the undo button. Dave (talk) 01:06, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I added it to the other article. --ForeverStamp (talk) 01:49, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the note you added is probably the best solution. We'll see what happens in the next few days. Dave (talk) 03:26, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
