International opinion

"McWhorter wrote that Hudson's photo that day drove "international opinion to the side of the civil rights revolution".[5]" This needs some qualification. As it stands, it suggests that until that moment, international opinion was neutral or on the side of the colour bar, and that the photo was the main factor in shifting opinion. Not so. There was a long, long history of criticism of the apartheid regimes of both South Africa and the USA in Europe, especially in Britain. This grandiose claim should not be allowed to stand without more on the context of objection to colour bars internationally. 81.129.135.11 (talk) 06:46, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
