Agrarian?

[edit]

The party is not known to support small farmers. Only big farmers so to speak. So the Agrarian label seems a bit misguided. Here is the definition of Agrarianism.

"Agrarianism is a political and social philosophy that has promoted subsistence agriculture, smallholdings, egalitarianism, with agrarian political parties normally supporting the rights and sustainability of small farmers and poor peasants against the wealthy in society."

Infobox

[edit]

@ShutTheFurgessonUp and Autospark: I've noticed that there has been a dispute whether which ideologies should stay in the infobox. Looking at "agrarianism", I'd prefer if we remove it considering that third-party sources do not label the party as agrarian anymore. I couldn't find any past-2006 sources that define the party as agrarian. The claim "green liberalism" seems to be only used by the party, the second source states that "the party does does not advocate a single ideology but has elements of both liberalism, green ideology and conservatism", while I could not reach the third source. I'd prefer if we only keep "liberalism", considering that this has been the ideology that most reliable third-party sources had used to describe the party as (1, 2, 3). Another option would be to keep "liberalism", "social liberalism", and "economic liberalism" (source for economic liberalism). Vacant0 (talk) 18:06, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer to keep liberalism; adding social liberalism and economic liberalism on top of that is redundant. Agrarianism should be mentioned somewhere, as it is based on the historical roots of the party.—Autospark (talk) 18:51, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i agree with @Autospark:, many articles list some major historical ideologies (like Jobbik) Braganza (talk) 20:32, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree on having "liberalism", while removing "social liberalism" and "economic liberalism", that are sub-sets of liberalism. I have no reservations on keeping "agrarianism". --Checco (talk) 06:24, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll implement this edit. If anyone is objected to it, please comment here. Vacant0 (talk) 12:32, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can agree on removing Agrarianism. The party is however very staunch about them being specifically a “green liberal” and “social liberal” party. Agrarianism has more or less faded away from the party. User:ShutTheFurgessonUp (talk) 14:47, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have to remove green liberalism considering that this is a self-descriptor, although I also think that only retaining liberalism would be more balanced and correct, since the party is both socially and economically liberal. Vacant0 (talk) 13:46, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Liberals are represented as both classical and conservative Liberals on their Wikipedia page besides “liberalism”. There shouldn’t be any difference with the Centre Party in my opinion. Remove Agrarianism though. ShutTheFurgessonUp (talk) 18:58, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that green and social liberalism should be placed, there is no difference to why the liberal party could have multiple forms of liberalism in their infobox but Centre is strictly just liberalism, but agrarianism should not be placed. - FellowMellow (talk) 02:51, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

they are not really a social liberal party but very economically liberal Braganza (talk) 08:03, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Position

[edit]

too early Braganza (talk) 20:42, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ideology List

[edit]

Given how well sourced social liberalism and green liberalism are in the ideology section, wouldn't it make sense to include them in the infobox? I know the Centre Party have undergone a fairly noticeable ideology shift over the last few years, is that why my edits about this have been reversed?
