Named heat waves, and merging regional events

[edit]

I'm in a bit of a conundrum here friends. I feel like these events are taking on an unprecedented scope, and that while European heat waves should be regionally addressed, major heat events (anti-cyclones) that become named, should be treated like major cyclones. If we look for example at the 1988 Atlantic hurricane season there is a list of the major events and then a table showing the affected regions. I can then go to pages for specific events Hurricane Debby (1988). In this way the effects aren't necessarily broken down on a national basis, but instead a regional scope is noted for each "wave". I feel like a bit of an outsider addressing this, but if we start reformatting European Heat Waves (or more probably global heat waves]] to address national effects after touching on major regional events it might provide the information better. This is ultimately why storms are named, so that they can be communicated about as a continuation of an event that effects multiple areas. I'm happy to help tackle this, but I'll need some guidance from a more senior editor. Theodoreesquires (talk) 08:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
