Merge
[edit]I don't see the sense in there being a Channel 4 programming article and a List of Channel 4 television programmes. However, I prefer the broader scope and title of this article to the former. The act of merging (into this article) would also help give the material presently in this article the tidy-up it badly needed when it was a sub-section of Channel 4. -- Fursday 02:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Support. Over 5 years later, it's still a good idea. There's no reason this topic is seperately WP:notable from Channel 4. Hopefully the merger will prompt some work to fix up the WP:trivia, WP:NOR and WP:verify. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 07:39, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think this whole article is basically trivia and has no business being merged, it's almost entirely unencyclopedic and feel there's around six paragraphs that are worth salvaging with a rewrite. tutterMouse (talk) 12:01, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that 99% of this unreferenced WP:trivia article should be culled. But I suggest the remaining stub would be better integrated into Channel 4, rather than having this become a stub article. Also, hopefully bringing the content to more editors attention will help improve its quality. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 11:38, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
- Alright then, I'd say to rewrite the article down to a minimum and add it as a new section in the parent article. tutterMouse (talk) 20:36, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

The contents of the Channel 4 programming page were merged into Channel 4 on 14 July 2016 and it now redirects there. For the contribution history and old versions of the merged article please see its history. |
Films
[edit]What should we do about Channel 4's history of Film-making and Film screening prior to Film4. I feel that the subject of Channel 4 Films and Film on Four ought to be in one place, but should that be here, the main Channel 4 article or the Film4 article, with appropriate links in any case. -- Fursday 02:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Considering the existence of Film on Four on Channel 4 before the launch of Film4, I was inclined place the Film on Four information within this article, but considering its involvement in films which were released in the Cinema (ie. Four Weddings and a Funeral (source and good reference for any work on Film on Four)), it may be better placed in the main Channel 4 article. --tgheretford (talk) 08:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
List article
[edit]I've moved the article back to Channel 4 programming because it is not a purely list article. It also contains a lot of prose, most of it originating from Channel 4
This article was created from the merger of Channel 4 programming (prose content mostly lifted from Channel 4 when that got too big) and List of Channel 4 television programmes (a list article, now defunct)
We therefore have some options.
- re-move it back to List of programmes broadcast by Channel 4 - and conveniently ignore the fact that the article isn't just a list.
- de-merge the articles into a list article and programming article again.
- put all the prose in this article back into Channel 4 leaving only list content here, naming appropriately (and find other ways to make Channel 4 not too big)
- keep the article as a hybrid with some list content and some prose, perhaps ordered in a more appropriate way, and decide best how to name this.
Thoughts?

French Article
[edit]Right I have loads of French friends who have been introducing Channel 4 to their friends, but they want to know more on Wikipedia so I say us Brits use our good Channel 4 knowledge and an online translator and fix up the page. I mean I had to add a list of programmes, what's with that? Please help! The URL is www.fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_4 Please, please, please help!

- It'd have to be done by somebody who is fluent in French. It would be a case of using a web-translator on the English article and going through the output to create something in correct French. -- Fursday 18:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup needed
[edit]Channel 4 programming is a new article that combines material lifted from Channel 4 (which was becoming too big) and material merged from the former List of Channel 4 television programmes. It is divided into genres of programming some of which are highly specific with others being vague and mixed-up. It also contains content from many different editors, describing specific programmes individually, which tends to make the prose seem very disjointed. It generally needs a tidier structure, but given the amount of content, is a pretty big endeavour. It is also separately tagged as requiring references.—Fursday 00:02, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Possible mistakes
[edit]I noticed that Queensferry (YouTube Series) is listed under the notable animation heading. I have not been able to find any proof for it ever being broadcast on CH4; can anyone prove it?
Also can anyone prove Bi-Channelled Monkey! has been broadcast and provide me with a link for information about the show and I will be willing to create a page for it.
Thirdly, should the section about The idiots being broadcast be moved to the controversies section? Alexmate (talk) 16:29, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Still too many lists
[edit]It is mentioned above that this article is a merge of an article and list article, but it still consists too much of lists (IMHO). RJFJR (talk) 21:35, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Too Confusing
[edit]I think we should, change this page. On this page we should have all the current shows and there should be a seperate page for Past Programming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kieran1998 (talk • contribs) 21:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
