Talk:Christianity in Algeria
This article is rated C-class on Wikipedia's content assessment scale. It is of interest to the following WikiProjects: | |||||||||||||||||||||

This article appears to be a rough translation from another language into English, and has some grammatical irregularities. The line "In our times North Africa is considered a country of Islam" is notable because North Africa is not a country. The site also uses a comma as a decimal point and a space as the numerical comma. This may not be an error, as it is standard in other languages, but it is indicative that this page is a rough translation from another language that has not been edited to a more Standard English form. this article is filled with errors and exagerations
[edit]it says there are some 300.000 protestants in algeria and claims it is UNO data, however it gives no link to any UNO page that could confirm that data, it seems that the author has simply invented the number.
then the article claims that 1 to 5% of the population of the Tizi Ouzou province is christian , here again it gives no source and no reference (the reference in the article is the article itself!).
then the author contradicts himself and says in one line that there are 20.000 catholics in Algeria , and in another that they are 83.000 .
finally he attributes the murders of bishops in the 90s' to "muslim fundamentalists" without adding "officially" , because as everyone knows, nothing is really clear about who killed whom during the civil war .. and many testimonies from ex-officers and witnesses say otherwise .. who should be believe? the wisest to do is to admit our ignorance of the truth. then the article says that the converts to christianity are attacked and brutalised by muslim fanatics in Algeria , here again these are baseless accusations and attacks on a group of people without anything based on reality.
this article appears to be essentially an article of propaganda, destined to show that there is a growing christian minority in algeria and that it is persecuted by evil muslims .
an article in an encyclopedia should present only the facts , it should not give baseless numbers , baseless accusations , and a distortion of reality destined to misguide the reader. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ikjan (talk • contribs) 01:19, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
