[edit]He came on as a sub against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League, worth mentioning? Was it his first Champions League appearance? Frainc 00:57 08 December 2006
- It was his first European competition. It's really only worth mentioning if he started or had a really memorable performance. I didn't get a chance to watch the game, so I'll leave that up to your discretion. Captkrob 19:33, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
He scored the first goal in the 2009 Cooperative Cup final victory for Celtic over Rangers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.69.150.252 (talk) 17:40, 15 March 2009 (UTC) He never attended St Alyouisious College , he went to school in Ireland —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.228.82.171 (talk) 13:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I will review this article. Ikhtiar H (talk) 07:53, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]- Dundee should have FC added to it (Dundee FC). It is imperative throughout the article.
- Nope, the common names of clubs are inserted only. The club is known as Dundee only, like Manchester United (not Manchester United FC), Liverpool not Liverpool FC. But in most of the German clubs we use the suffix/prefix because it is used commonly (like VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg). RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Current team reference should be given. I would suggest to give the reference in the Dundee (or Dundee FC, if it corrected) section. Just type the following beside the information:
<ref name=the name of the reference already mentioned in the Dundee section/>
- The reference is already given in the approproate section. The WP:LEAD discourages use of reference in the lead portions, if already it is cited. Se WP:OVERCITE. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Home Farm career year needed.
- We dont know the year so it is not given. GAs like Chris Beardsley, Lee McEvilly are examples. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- The year O'Dea joined Republic of Ireland U19 is unknown, it should be found.
- Explained above. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Whether he still plays for Republic of Ireland is unknown, it should be found.
- We "stop" the international career of a player either when the player has not played for the national team for a long time like 4 to 5 years or plays for a lower league club and has not represented the national team in the past 1-1.5 years. Playing in Dundee in Scottish first tier, he has a good chance of being called. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Lead Section
[edit]- "For more first-team opportunities he switched clubs and countries, joining Toronto FC of Major League Soccer for a year until 2013." - this sentence should be split into two as it says clubs and countries, whereas Toronto was one of the clubs he switched.
- The sentence is correct. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:39, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Club career
[edit]Celtic
[edit]- " O'Dea played for Home Farm before he was signed by Celtic as a teenager." - citation needed.
- Corrected it. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:41, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- "After played 16 times for Celtic, O'Dea signed a three-year contract in March 2007 and considered it a "reward for the hard work" he had done." - grammatical error.
- Corrected. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 16:41, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- "In his second season he helped Celtic win the league championship, although he did not feature in the final against Dundee." - how did he help? Elaborate his contributions if they were significant and prevalent. Also
second [[2007–08 Scottish Premier League|season]]
should be altered to[[2007–08 Scottish Premier League|second season]]
; this will make the wavelink more reasonable.
- altered. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 08:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- @RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি, can you please explain how did he "help" Celtic win the league? Ikhtiar H (talk) 07:57, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- "After O'Dea did not play for two months (since his last Champions League match against FC Spartak Moscow, the BBC reported in October that he would be recalled to the injury-plagued team as a replacement for Gary Caldwell. and he played the entire league match against Rangers." - the full stop after Caldwell should be replaced with a comma. Also it will be difficult for readers like me to understand how he played the entire league match against Rangers(Why isn't FC added!).
- Done and the second part is explained above.
- Loans to other clubs should be written in another sub section inside this one.
- Small loan sections with hardly two-three lines are clubbed in the main section (ex. Josh Walker.) RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 08:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- "He said he "had a great time at Celtic and have a lot of friends there so it was important for me that I left properly"." - it is very unnecessary.
- It gives a finishing touch. Articles have such line. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 08:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Toronto FC
[edit]- "After Toronto's string of "poor results", O'Dea called the club "mentally weak". - it is unnecessary
- "In a match against Houston Dynamo he passed to Terry Dunfield, who scored, and at the end of the game said he was "delighted" with the result." - it is unncessary, his opinions are not required.
- Which policy prevents it? RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 09:20, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- I am considering it. Ikhtiar H (talk) 08:14, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Metalurh Donetsk
[edit]- "tweeting that he was "delighted" to begin his "new chapter"." - tweets aren't important.
"O'Dea described the situation in the country as "hostile and intense, but also surreal"." - should be removed for the same reason of the last point.
Mumbai City
[edit]"Calling his signing "a new experience, a new chapter", he said he knew little about the quality of football in the league." - another unimportant opinion.
Dundee(or Dundee FC, if fixed!)
[edit]- "O'Dea signed a short-term contract with Dundee in January 2016." - re-construction needed to make it "current".
- All articles have this format, no "current". RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 09:19, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
International career
[edit]- No vital problems.
Playing style
[edit]- No vital problems.
Honours
[edit]- No vital problems.
Club statistics
[edit]- 2013–14 red link should be corrected under the season column.
- Nope, the links should be consistent. Also red links are not to be removed as per Wikipedia:Red link. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 09:38, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
- The notes below should be merged together and put beside Continental column header as a parameter reference.
Conclusion
[edit]I keep this on hold for 7 days. Hope it meets the criteria. Ikhtiar H (talk) 13:00, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- @RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি I dug into other footballer articles and found that more or less, there are player's opinions. Therefore, I will take that as a consideration. There's still time and other problems can be solved in the interim. Ikhtiar H (talk) 08:00, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ikhtiar H, All the issues have been addressed. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 09:46, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
- The article is finally inducted to the good article status. I must give credit to the nominator for cooperating. Ikhtiar H (talk) 12:36, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Honours
[edit]- Scottish Cup winner - 2007? - Hmmmm. Not happy about this being included; he wasn't in the starting XI or even the subs bench. I've already had this discussion on the Cillian Sheridan talk page some time ago, refer Dubious Scottish Cup honour - ironically the same Cup Final! Thoughts? ShugSty (talk) 17:17, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
