Comics

[edit]

Who drew all the "comics" in his Mo Letters -- was it Berg himself? If so, when and how did he learn to draw comics? Maikel (talk) 15:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have True Komix No GP 565CP which is edited and illustrated by 'Phil Assurance' and No 1203 GP edited and illustrated by 'Jacob Sailor' so unless these are pseudonyms it seems that some at least are credited to others. 92.4.41.189 (talk) 23:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Family

[edit]

"depictions of Rodriguez (aka "Davidito") with adult caretakers " - this is not understandable by British audiences, what are 'caretakers' in this context? A 'caretaker' in Britain looks after the boiler room in a block of flats, whereas a 'carer' wipes a disabled person's nose. It doesn't sound as though Rodriguez was disabled? 92.4.41.189 (talk) 23:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ridiculous

[edit]

The first part of this article is hagiographic. It describes Berg's life in a tone which is so laudatory that it becomes ridiculous. Is this the expected effect ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Giordaano (talkcontribs) 21:30, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed some of the lines which praise Berg, as they aren't NPOV. I qualified some lines of praise by adding "His followers believe that . . ." Hopefully that will improve this article. I initially wanted to flag this article with "weasel words" banner, but perhaps we can resolve this issue on the talk page. The biography section contains a lot of quotes which do not seem necessary (see similar pages of other historical figures). I don't know enough about the topic to be able to edit this too much myself. --208.59.130.247 (talk) 00:50, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think all personal quotes by Mr. Berg should be removed. They are not presented in perspective for the un-informed reader and seemed to have been picked in bias. Unless someone objects soon, I shall remove them. --Thorwald (talk) 02:12, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amen.

I agree.

God bless that man. I have not joined the Family International yet, though I may some day, who knows. But I love and respect every single member of the Family International I have so far had the pleasure of meeting. David Berg must have been a wonderful man, to have produced such wonderful, intelligent, courteous children and loving, happy, fulfilled adults and teenagers all serving God to their greatest capacity. Their homes are havens of peace, joy, and laughter. I have not seen one slight degree of dictatorship, twisted concepts, distorted relationships, or even pretence. Family members simply breathe warmth, sincerity, honesty, and most of all, unwavering and utter dedication and love to God and to others. The work they have done in this poor country in which I am currently living in, with their school and free medical projects for the poor and needy, are simply wonderful. I have even gone with them on such occasions and missions of mercy. There is no pretence, no false dedication, no fronts at all! So, I would appreciate it, that people stop absorbing all these ridiculous accusations, stop concocting such outright lies, about these wonderful people. Especially if your contact with any of them, including the main ones that you so disgustingly slander and malign, is very minimal or non-existant. I have known the Family for 15 years. I think I should know what I am talking about.

If you have further questions, or accusations made by yourself or others, implanted firmly in your minds about The Family International, please go to this site. Their site. They're side of the story. Just try their side for once, I beg you.

x family as a source

[edit]

looking over the x family material, it appears to be mainly a survivor group without further looking at it.

i can't defend it, and it's hard to look at this article without using the sources derived from x family.

i suggest rewriting this gentlemans wiki page, using the voluminous other sources that mostly agree with the assertions here. SkidMountTubularFrame (talk)

@SkidMountTubularFrame You're right that XFamily is a former Family members group, which definitely causes some issues with authenticity of the sources themselves. I do think, though, that if they are simply reproducing another published work or the text of the MO letters, then I think it's relatively okay to use, but another disinterested source would be better. XFamily, though, is an invaluable resource for information on Berg and the Family generally, even if its inherently biased against them. Perhaps a disclaimer somewhere on the page or in the references would be good to start with? --Jacquesparker0 (talk) 03:29, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
