Peter Hans Kolvenbach

[edit]

The source says numerous times that he died "Sunday" (= 27 Nov), despite the fact that the report is dated 26 November, which was the Saturday, the day BEFORE he died. Unless they mean he died LAST Sunday, 22 Nov? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:46, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've now replaced that citation with a better one, one that leaves no room for ambiguity, It says he died 26 November. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:50, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And this one states his death as being "four days shy of his 88th birthday" (which would have been November 30th this year). So, no room for confusion now. Ref (chew)(do) 00:52, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Er, thanks, but that cite is the very one I just replaced. The one that says he died "Sunday" even though it was dated the previous day. It can't be trusted. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 01:16, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yury Yeliseyev

[edit]

Somebody wanted to be helpful with Yury Yeliseyev - a CHESS grandmaster, and the link goes to a football player with the same name. How to correct that? Royalrec (talk) 18:13, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The original wikilink went to Yuriy Yeliseyev. Looks like this has been fixed and is a redlink to Yury Yeliseyev (football player), although the recently deceased should not need disambiguation and a {{distinguish}} hatnote for both would suffice (if a notable article is created). — Wyliepedia 07:36, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mateus Caramelo

[edit]

Caramelo is listed twice, once with the wrong age. Any way we can fix that? 108.8.47.244 (talk) 14:50, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:54, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adding the names of two more Chapecoense players:

Not done for now: Sources needed. EvergreenFir (talk) 06:12, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry? Has not the IP provided you with the sources right there? A double-check of their Wikipedia articles also confirms that they are listed among the dead (the deaths in the articles are well-supported by sources). Just asking what further sources would be needed. Ref (chew)(do) 20:40, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
 Done by someone now. Ref (chew)(do) 21:18, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Move "Marcos Danilo Padilha" from Nov 29 to Nov 28?

[edit]

November 28th has an entry "Notable Brazilian people killed in the crash of LaMia Airlines Flight 2933 (some deaths occuring on November 29)".

Even though Marcos Danilo Padilha is currently listed as having died on the 29th, his cause of death is given as injuries suffered in the crash. Should he be listed with the rest of the casualties from that flight in the section on the 28th? Or is the parenthetical note in that entry intended to cover casualties for whom it is not know whether they died before or after midnight? [It's not clear from the articles I scanned how quickly emergency personnel were able to reach the scene.] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.212.3.4 (talk) 20:45, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The ones listed on the 28th died at the scene. Danilo survived for a few hours, but died at the hospital. All sources showed him among the initial 6 survivors. BurienBomber (talk) 04:02, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question: Is every single individual listed actually "Brazilian"? I have no idea. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 03:42, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I've just been through them. Ref (chew)(do) 07:40, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The practice of using the term "biography" while making it plainly obvious that we're writing about job titles and not about people rears its ugly head yet again. Namely, Bailey died over three months ago and so far no one has bothered to take notice. The reason I'm writing this: we have a third-party news-type source which states that Bailey died on November 2. However, her paid obituary states November 1. I would be inclined to believe the latter, but I've had past conflict with the regulars on these lists over the apparent belief that our purpose here is to cherry-pick one particular source and inherit all the factual accuracy baggage contained therein. Therefore, I don't know how we would handle this. I do know that she was active with Lisa Murkowski's reelection campaign prior to her death, so there's the possibility that Murkowski's office released a statement which may further confirm the correct date. Her Air Force biography hasn't been updated in over a decade, roughly concurrent with her retirement from military service.
