Chinese

At the beginning of the page it states that the Chinese population is 1% and then below it lists it as 0%. 70000 Chinese cannot constitute 0%

It seems this has been corrected. It _is_ around 1% Chinese, around 1,5% asian as a whole, I believe. --Crio de la Paz (talk) 22:44, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Net Migration Rate

I eliminated the following, because it doesn't make sense and does not have any meaning: "Costa Rica is a bipolar country in the aspect of migration. While it receives many people from nearby countries, it also provides people to other countries, mainly the United States." Costa Rica, as other countries, receives migrants and costarricans do migrate too. Costa Rica has a positive net migration rate, and, depending on the period one considers immigration has been one of the highest of the continent. Lots of US citizens live outside the US and lots of europeans and canadians too, heck, europeans have colonized big areas outside of Europe (I am living proof) and the US citizens, europeans and canadians migrate quite a lot - Are these countries "bipolar"? In 2009 Costa Rica was among the top 10 in America. Costa Rica even had, for the period between 2000-2005 a higher net migration rate than the US and than North America, being second in the continent for that period only to Canada. For this I am using data from: http://data.un.org/Data.aspx?d=PopDiv&f=variableID%3A85 https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2112rank.html So, taking out the "prejudice" out of migration and doing some demographic research we find that CR has a positive migration rate that, at times, has been quite high. --Crio de la Paz (talk) 22:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

A lot of the info contradicts each other.

I can't read Spanish so I can't look at the census and fix it myself but... lemme give some examples.

At the the beginning of the article it says; together, whites and mestizos make up a 94% of the population, 3% are black people, 1% Amerindians, 1% Chinese, and 1% other., where as on the list in the Ethnic groups section, Mestizo, Castizo and White would add up to only 79.45%... and then in the same section, not the list, but the paragraph, it says; 40% being White, 40% Castizo, and 14% being Mestizo... now this info correlates to the beginning of the article, but not the list, because Whites + Castizo do not = 80%.

So I think someone who reads Spanish should fix this and find the correct data... my hunch is the list is correct, ie: newer info, but I can't confirm this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by B23Rich (talkcontribs) 05:30, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

I agree with B23Rich that a lot of this data was self-contadictory. I just added a reference for the demographic list and updated the content to match the spreadsheet I downloaded from the authoritative source, as well as deleting the next paragraph (the listing was fairly accurate and now matches the spreadsheet, whereas the paragraph I deleted contradicted the census data). rs2 (talk) 20:32, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Propose merger/redirect from European Costa Rican

Single source of somewhat dubious merit in that it does not cite original data source, and that fails verifiability as sole source of a full article. Propose merger and redirect here. FeatherPluma (talk) 03:00, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
