Has he retired?

[edit]

According to the article, and to his page on IMDB, he has done no starring roles since NYPD Blue finished its run. It appears that he is inactive. I can't believe that an actor like him couln't get work if he wanted to. --rogerd 17:19, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking much the same thing, rogerd. This article says absolutely nothing about what he's done since the show ended. I started to worry that he'd died. ---Charles 16:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am certain he is alive and probably healthy. If he had died, IMDB & wikipedia would have been updated, and it would have been all over the press. If he were gravely ill and it was reported in the media, someone probably would have added that to this article, too. No, he is probably just kicking back and enjoying some down time, because IMO he is too good an actor to not be able to get work if he wants it. --rogerd 17:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Quite possibly he is considering retirement, he could very easily do so. His character on NYPD Blue was my favourite of all time on TV, and it's not likely to be replaced. If any catastrophe were to occur re. his health or a retirement announcement, I'm sure we'd know about it. SMC 14:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Saw him and his wife eating in the departure lounge in Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on February 16, 2012, so yeah, he's alive. Greg Salter (talk) 09:16, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Franz has not acted since NYPD Blue ended. He's in good health, spending a lot of time with his family and traveling. He is not officially "retired," and says that he's told his agents that he still open to the possibility of acting again if the right project came along, but that he's really enjoying doing other things, and obviously, he's not missing the work that much. He's said this in a number of interviews he's done over the past years. Here's one of them: http://nypost.com/2015/09/18/nypd-blue-legend-dennis-franz-loves-life-off-the-hollywood-grid/ (Sorry, I don't remember how to do a proper reference on here.) Movie appearances

[edit]

I think it should mention Die Hard 2 in the main body of text - that is an absolutely huge film for a relatively small (aside from his legendary Sipowicz portrayal) actor to get, he also has a reasonably large role in it. Mr.bonus 01:08, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where's the Grit?

[edit]

Is it correct to describe a person as gritty? Or does gritty apply to the nature of the show's content and delivery? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.147.44.80 (talk) 02:28, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Polish ancestry?

[edit]

His actual surname of Schlachta may be a Germanisation of the Polish Szlachta, to which the Polish classical nobility referred to itself as. Heff01 (talk) 01:51, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
