New Bishop Announced Jan 2022[edit]

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester, has been confirmed as the next Bishop of Salisbury. The Diocese of Gloucester announced that the Queen approved the nomination, succeeding the Right Reverend Nicholas Holtam who retired last July. Dean Lake will begin his new role in April. He is the 79th Bishop of Salisbury. The first, St Osmund, was appointed in 1078. 'I am delighted that Stephen has accepted the invitation to be the 79th Bishop of Salisbury," said acting Bishop of Salisbury and Bishop of Sherborne, the Rt Rev Karen Gorham.

List of Churches[edit]

Does this article really need the massive list of every current or former church within the diocese? It seems a bit excessive, and probably better as its own article. Spacemarine22 (talk) 06:57, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The list of churches (often with the names of the team ministries) is too much detail for the encyclopedia and belongs at the diocesan website. We could keep just the churches that have articles, under a heading 'Notable churches'. Wire723 (talk) 10:52, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
