Book page vs. character page[edit]

When researched, it is apparent that the book series featuring Dirk Pitt has the same name as the protagonist. Therefore, should the page be documenting the book series with mention of the character Dirk Pitt, rather than the character himself? For example, Junie B. Jones is an iconic character and is the protagonist of a book series by the same name, yet the character herself does not have an individual page. d ross (c · @) 15:53, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism/derivative of Louis Edward Curdes.[edit]

I think it should be noted in Dirk Pitt's bio that Cussler stole the story of the American plane shoot down from real life WW2 vet Louis Edward Curdes. Besides the war being changed to Vietnam, not a lot of other details were changed.

There are other similarities between Curdes and the fictional character besides the American plane shoot down. Curdes was a Lieutenant Colonel, Pitt a major (the next lower officer rank). Curdes received 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and a purple heart, Pitt received 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses and a purple heart.

I don't know the specific term for stealing a real person's story and applying it to a fictional character, but I am almost certain that this is what happened here.
