Untitled (2008)

[edit]

Can we re-name this article into something closer to it's native name? "Drone zither" is more like a category under which Appalachian dulcimer, scheitholt, epinette des Vosges, etc. all fall. It's kind of like taking one skin-headed string instrument from Afghanistan and titling it "Banjo". Should we rename it "bordunske citre", or pick one of the other names? Move

[edit]

Please move to actual name in whatever language spoken where it's used. Badagnani (talk) 06:15, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Generic, not national

[edit]

"Drone zither (Slovene: bordunske citre) is a Slovenian type of zither" is wrong. We find drone zithers in many cultures throughout Europe from the Middle Ages to the present day, and also outside Europe, e.g. the Appalachian dulcimer. Drone zithers are forms of zithers that have few (sometimes only one) melody strings and many drone strings. --Neitram (talk) 20:21, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
