List of stations

[edit]

I've created a partial list of the stations that will be created based on the information on the system map while leaving the other stations numbered based on their position on the map (from left to right). -ÅfÇ++ 09:12, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

homepage

[edit]

The link to the Dubai Metro homepage didn't work. A quick googling revealed http://www.dubaimetro.info 85.227.226.149 21:42, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Link

[edit]

This article refers to the construction of the project but makes little mention of the master planning and the Architecture practice (Aedas) behind the design of the Dubai Metro. I am happy to work on something to insert but want to be sure that it is not going to be reversed out. My time is precious so I don't want to waste it. I have included an article link to world architecture news article about the Dubai Metro.

Feel free to add to the article, since this article probably needs a major expansion. I will not remove what you add unless it is a copyright violation, is written poorly or does not provide any valuable information to the article. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 22:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which line serves which Airport stations?

[edit]

The map shows that the Red line serves the airport terminals while the Green line serves the airport free area.

The article text states that the Green line serves the airport terminals while the Red line serves the airport free area.

Is the map correct or is the text?

75.101.23.58 (talk) 01:59, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The map is correct. Actually it was orginally planned that the Green Line would go to Terminals 1 and 3 and the Red Line go to the Airport Free Zone. That has been changed and now the Red Line will go to Rashidiya and the Green Line will go to the Airport Free Zone. I have corrected the information in the article. Thanks for catching it. Length

[edit]

Well I gather the Red line was opened last week, but it doesn't say how much of it was opened (it says it's to be finished by February 2010). Does anyone know how long the system is now? For now I'm going to set the "system length" in the infobox to 52.1 km, which is the length given for the Red Line and should probably be somewhat shorter for now... TastyCakes (talk) 19:43, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been looking for the present length as well, but haven't been able to find it. I do believe that 74.6 kilometers is the correct length for the (full) Red and Green Lines combined though. Jpatokal (talk) 02:44, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That was the impression I got as well. TastyCakes (talk) 14:18, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lines

[edit]

I think it is appropriate that the Bleu and Purple Line information is removed from the first box of information as both state they run from DXB to JXB (or DWC) but both are shelved for at least 15 years from 2010 onwards. The yellow line idea has also been amalgamated with the tramway projects, the first of which, Al Sufouh is delayed until 2013. --Maulik2005 (talk) 09:44, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What does "Extensions: 18 km" for the Green Line mean? Jpatokal (talk) 02:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Map Indeed

[edit]

Having a bigger map would be really helpful and would show which station(s) fit(s) with which suburb. Maybe an official one from the RTA website??

Hot tip of the day: if you click on the map, it gets (much) bigger! And if you're looking for line maps, you can find them by clicking on the Red Line and Green Line links. Jpatokal (talk) 11:00, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 20:25, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The first external link [website] in the Dubai Metro article page is in-correct. Please replace with the correct link [1] & there is no need to have unofficial external links on the article page as well. Regards, 86.98.51.112 (talk) 09:51, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: RTA is redesigning their entire website and the link that you have given here redirect to their new homepage. Ayub407 (talk) 18:24, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the link to their new website's metro section but now the new website provide less information. Ayub407 (talk) 18:28, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction

[edit]

Regarding the contradiction in the Operation section, I would interpret that to mean that we expect 1.2M passengers eventually, but only 140,000 by October 2010. But there is no citation for the 1.2M figure, so it's impossible to tell. Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:32, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It says "expected the metro to carry 1.2 million passengers on an average day". I think it's a typo, it should be year instead of day. Ayub407 (talk) 18:04, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, 1.2 million would be way too low for a year. They already had almost 7 million in 2009, and that was before "both lines are fully operational." The cn tag is dated June, so if someone doesn't supply a ref soon, we should just remove this. Kendall-K1 (talk) 21:38, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, if that is the case, then it's hard for me to believe that the government expected 1.2 million passengers to travel with the metro on an average day because it's impossible to get 1 million passenger on a daily basis. This also has never happened after 6 years after the metro opening. Such an inaccurate info must be deleted. Ayub407 (talk) 19:04, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I would be willing to believe the DMPTD expected 1.2 million but only got half that. Projections for transit ridership are often wildly optimistic. But pre-opening projections are not all that interesting now. Kendall-K1 (talk) 20:40, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated info re Route 2020

[edit]

Hi. There is some outdated info regarding that Route 2020 (an Expo 2020 extension to the red line) is still under construction. This is outdated, as I have been to the Route 2020 line extension and 4 of 7 stations have been opened. It was said that the rest of the stations were supposed to be opened closer to the start of Expo, so the info that the Route 2020 is under construction and also the Jabal Ali station page also states that the station is currently closed, since than it has been reopened. There were many outdated info, so this may need to be fixed. User3749 (talk) 05:34, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

The map is shit! It needs to be replaced. There was a better looking map many years ago.103.246.39.1 (talk) 06:07, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We could probably use that map because it shows the stations clearly. Ebraali444 (talk) 16:32, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli Metro

[edit]

Hi, The second paragraph states that Israel has a Metro, this is incorrect. Israel currently has a light rail line in Jerusalem, and a planned Metro in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area, but that isn't expect to open until the 2050s. TLDR: Israel does not have a Metro. Please correct this. Itayalush (talk) 12:08, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
