Question about additional material

[edit]

I don't like to add to well written entries without either permission from the original author, or at least others agreeing that it is ok. I would like to add that Eddie Waitkus began his professional baseball career with the Worumbo Indians, a semi-pro team from Lisbon Falls, Maine. His webpage mentions this and has a picture of him in his Worumbo uniform.

It is very considerate of you to ask for permission to edit an article from editors. However, original authors of an article have no more authority on the article than anyone else (see: Wikipedia:Ownership of articles). Your suggestions are not disruptive so I encourage you to be bold and make the edits you see fit. Cheers! Kingturtle (talk) 11:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I don't believe there needs to be a separate article for Waitkus's attacker, Ruth Ann Steinhagen. The crimes is notable because Waitkus is notable, not Steinhagen. Steinhagen is not notable for any other reason, and does not warrant her own article. Bmf 51 (talk) 01:26, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Her article seems to meet WP:PERP "The motivation for the crime or the execution of the crime is unusual." Both the motivation and the execution of the crime are very unusual, as well as being a well documented historic event. It was one of the very first stalker crimes. An unusual, historically well-documented crime. Dreadstar 05:33, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just worked on this article and it seems a fine start. There are solid sources and more are apparent out there. This should be given time to develop. Br'er Rabbit (talk) 08:28, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's now past the stub stage into the start status. The tag really needs to come off. PumpkinSky talk 10:11, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with the rabbit, and oppose merge. It's a parallel, in its time to someone like Margaret Mary Ray. Sufficiently unique individual in her own right to warrant and article and meet WP:N criteria. Particularly interesting because of the time period in question, when such things were not so common and we had fewer tabloids to report on them. Montanabw(talk) 21:19, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Removing, article is well past stub stage now.PumpkinSky talk 17:57, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
