Dok (fortress), ie Mount of Temptation, is down by Jericho, and nowhere near this place, cheers, Huldra (talk) 23:06, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This place is directly next to Jericho. You may have confused it with another location. I have maps if you need them. — LlywelynII 23:21, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
<facepalm> You are right, I mixed it up with Beit Ur al-Fauqa (again: <facepalm>). However, you still need to add sources. Saying that the sources are in the Mount of Temptation-article simply isn't good enough, cheers, Huldra (talk) 23:27, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comment moved here from User_talk:Huldra at their request, for those who don't understand how close these villages are:

If you got confused by thinking 3 km was a long distance, here's a map helping to see exactly how close all these places actually are to one another and how they are all sharing the same general name around. Notice in particular how the cartographer thinks that DUYŪK is the general name for the foot of Jebel Quruntul that got picked up by two separate springs, one to the northeast and one to the southeast. I'm not sure he's right about that but these places are absolutely adjacent; the locals just call them Duyuk; the longer names are just useful for WP:NATURALDAB and not because they are the WP:COMMON names; and... most importantly, never blanket revert improvements and expansions to an article. I'm not a newbie so I can't be bitten but it's incredibly rude and WP:POINTy. You're wrong here, but in the future even if you are right, if there's just some little point that needs working on, fix that instead.
Cheers and thanks for keeping an eye on these pages!

As for sourcing, again, don't be WP:POINTy. The content is good and people who are curious for more (or want to tidy pages up for DYK or GA purposes) know exactly where to look. Sourcing is something to help improve the project and avoid mistakes and POV pushing, not paperwork for paperwork's sake. See also WP:IAR. — LlywelynII 23:44, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, WP:IAR does not mean you can add unsourced material to wp. Editor in the IP area (me included) have generally a very low treshold for removing unsourced material. Bring sources, or expect it to be removed, Huldra (talk) 21:28, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In other news, sorry everything got so ridiculously unpleasant. It seems like you're normally a very helpful person and the reason I'm busy enough to not go hunt the sources here is because I'm cleaning up Mount of Temptation, in which I could've used your help. Anyway, have a good day. — LlywelynII 23:46, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spring: at which village?

[edit]

The PEF's Ain ed Duk spring: is it really here, at the upper (al-foqa), or at the lower (at-tahta) village? There are important ancient ruins at the spring, so it matters in many ways. Arminden (talk) 15:29, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
