Talk:Eustace Tilley

Based on the last name and a monocled publicity photo there are fringe theorists who speculate that this character was actually derived from Vesta Tilley.

Substantial interesting article on plenty of sources, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. I accept the hook, it made me curious. I'm open though to something mentioning that “Liberty’s Flameout." was presented instead. I also think the "because of DT" could be a bit clearer in the article. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:Gerda Arendt would the hook have made you as curious without "because of DT"?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 14:53, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Let's not discuss my stance there, please. Perhaps it's neutral enough to say that I became interested only because of the image. - I said in the article it could be clearer what DT had to do with the unusual break of tradition, not in the hook. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:07, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I misread. The hook made you curious and the article needs clarification. Will have a look.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:57, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The image is licensed and a must ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:38, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have amended the text that is related to the hook. I am glad you feel the way I do about the image. In all my experience on DYK, I don't recall seeing such an image endorsement. It is of superior quality and works with a hook that has high level of intrigue.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:03, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
