Is factor X also called thromboplastin?

[edit]

In the introduction of the article, one of the synonyms for factor X listed include thromboplastin. Is this correct? In the article for tissue factor, thromboplastin is also listed as one of the synonyms. The article for thromboplastin mentions an association with tissue factor; however, it doesn't include factor X. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Devanshuv (talkcontribs) 20:16, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with you. To my knowledge, the word 'thromboplastin' is not well-defined. Thromboplastin may include Factor X, but must include other factors as well. From this view point, the article was misleading. I removed it.--Francesco Nagoya (talk) 07:09, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I too don’t think thromboplastin/ thrombokinase is another word for factor X Angunnu (talk) 08:02, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Under the heading Factor Xa it is written “ Factor Xa is the activated form of the coagulation factor thrombokinase, known “- I think the usage of the term thrombokinase is inappropriate here. The correct one will probably be factor X. Angunnu (talk) 08:08, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Xase

[edit]

There’s a mention of intrinsic and extrinsic Xase in the second paragraph of this article. I think the correct word is Tenase.Eventhough both means the same thing most of the books and other literature uses tenase for this enzyme complex rather than Xase.
