Merge

[edit]

This page should be joined with the page on fibre reinforced concrete Blabbermouth01 14:48, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like they've been merged. RJFJR (talk) 15:58, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

increased resistance to plastic???

what does that mean?

It means it has increased resistance to plastic deformation i.e. after the stress has exceeded the inital limit for elastic deformation (where it can return to its original state upon unloading) it will then resist plastic deformation (permanent deformation) with an increased resistance to the previously un-reinforced material. 81.100.244.186 (talk) 16:43, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Effects of Fibers on Impact Resistance

[edit]

I went through almost all of the website linked by the dead-link reference (a mfg that produces fibres for FRC), and could not find a single article that claimed new research that "using fibres in concrete has limited effect on the impact resistance of the materials" or that "the use of micro fibres offers better impact resistance compared with the longer fibres". Unless the original editor can provide solid references, I think this section should be deleted as it goes against almost 20 years of ACI research. Bzdenok (talk) 01:58, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Carbon fiber wrapped load-bearing concrete columns to improve performance

[edit]

Wrapping load-bearing concrete column with carbon fiber to improve capacity of column. When did it start? Does it give healthy concrete a higher load rating? Can it be used on bad, or failed concrete in response to, or in anticipation of increased loading? How was it approved? &c 146.243.108.138 (talk) 17:02, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Historic Perspective, include ancient variations of cob?

[edit]

Should the Historic Perspectives section include grass fiber mixed with mud or clay used by ancient peoples for housing, and kilns? Lemtil (talk) 20:59, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
