What is it?

[edit]

Having just read this article for the first time, I have to say I can't easily fathom what it is describing. The Lead paragraph certainly doesn't make it clear what this system is for or how it achieves it. The text jumps from saying who runs the system to what equipment it uses, without any description of its purpose other than the title. For example, what, in this context, is "an incident"? I cannot tell if this means a queue, crash, poor weather or any number of other possible problems, and I doubt it covers everything.

I would start re-writing this article (based loosely on something like Motorway Incident Detection and Automatic Signalling in the UK) but I genuinely cannot tell if the two systems are remotely similar. Can someone please explain, in understandable English, what the subject of this article is and does? --Peeky44 What's on your mind? 22:50, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I made some improvements. The article could definitely expand on the working of the whole system, but its just vehicle detector loops, and guys in a control room watching the data and traffic cameras. They change the message boards using preset messages (except in unusual circumstances) to advise motorists of conditions on the road up ahead. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 04:27, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
