Luminism
[edit]This article refers to Bingham as an exemplar of Luminism. First of all, the term 'Luminism' is generally out of favor with historians of American art today. Second of all, Bingham is hardly a luminist, but rather a genre painter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghamming (talk • contribs) 23:58, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

More work needed
[edit]I performed a major cleanup of this article using online sources, although I have other tasks to attend to and don't have access to the book about his political life, which may well be crucial. I did explain and highlight the "Order No.11" painting mentioned elsewhere on this page, which was in the gallery. I apologize for footnote format errors. I didn't change the infobox to that of either a politician or elected official because Bingham qualifies for any of the three infoboxes and those others would probably obscure his artistic accomplishments, even if they would complement each other. Annoyingly, I could not find his father nor grandfather in the online census information. Bingham's relative absence prewar may be because of his travels; he does not appear to have owned slaves.Jweaver28 (talk) 22:19, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Edward Savage
[edit]The portrait shown in the article Joseph O. Shelby is labelled as "by Edward Savage" -- but the link on Savage's name is to this page. Why? There is no mention of Savage here. 104.153.40.58 (talk) 02:29, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
