Gorton's Content Updates

[edit]

Gorton's added an external link to a short film about Gorton's and Gloucester that was directed by documentarian Joe Berlinger. We also removed an external link to Gorton's Fresh Seafood as we are no longer operating that business. --Celebratesfd (talk) 22:26, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gorton's added content to the Popular Culture section and renamed it "The Gorton's Fisherman in Popular Culture." We also removed the Nutrition section and moved the content to a bullet point under the "History-At-a-Glance" section.--Celebratesfd (talk) 20:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gorton's added an information box to the page. --Celebratesfd (talk) 21:52, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gorton's recently reviewed this page and updated the History section. We're planning to make additional updates over the next month to improve the overall content. If anyone has questions on the changes we made or suggestions for areas of improvement, please let us know.--Celebratesfd (talk) 22:33, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ad copy?

[edit]

Don't the "Seafood Sustainability", "Commitment to Quality" and "Gorton's Product Line" read a but too much like advertising? Guettarda 20:02, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I'm going to take them out. There were many companies that removed Transfats early. This is not article worthy. --Mark 2000 04:08, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Gorton’s is on record stating that the company has never engaged in any whaling activities, never killed a single whale in its entire 156 year history and never will. Gorton’s has always been opposed to whaling and has a long history and recognized commitment to environmental sustainability. Eventually, Nippon Suisan Kaisha agreed to divest its ownership in the company that owned the whaling fleet. Greenpeace hailed this as a victory [2] and the boycott of Gorton’s ended." -> sounds like some more ad copy there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.50.135.249 (talk) 17:54, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Gorton logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Gorton logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:NewYorkIslandersFisherman.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.
