Crime

[edit]

Discrepancies between http://www.city-data.com/city/Greeley-Colorado.html and town statistics may be due to divergence between the census unit and the town boundary. Greeley is a dry town and the local bars are outside city limits. User:Fred Bauder Talk 19:52, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is a specific crime section necessary for this page? I haven't found Wikipedia pages for any other cities in Colorado with a specific section dealing with crime. Is this something that other city pages are missing or is the Greeley, CO page not following a general template? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twfds (talkcontribs) 21:04, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous Population figure

[edit]

Population Figure appears to be erroneous. My intent here is to assist in making the article more accurate, not to make anyone look bad. Mistakes can happen and do sometimes. The 2013 population estimate of 109,888 for Greeley is probably erroneous for two reasons. 1) the 2013 estimates will not be released until May 2014 for cities and towns. 2) Greeley has been growing at around 2k a year and the 109,888 figure would be an increase of over 12k for one year; not likely. I would recommend going back to the 1 July 2012 figure of 95,357 until the release of 1 July 2013 estimate in May 2014. That figure based on the current rate of growth, should be somewhere between 96-98,000 people. Hope this helps the accuracy of the article. Oldest orchestra west of the Mississippi? I don't think so

[edit]

Their orchestra was founded in 1912. San Francisco's was founded in 1911, Seattle's in 1903. San Diego's dates from 1910. The oldest, though, is the Oregon Symphony, dating from 1896.50.200.41.134 (talk) 23:30, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Technically, the “oldest orchestra in the west” when describing the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) is missing a few words…to be fully correct. The GPO is the “oldest, continuously performing orchestra in the west (west of the Mississippi).” The GPO has never had a year of no performances. San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and Oregon have all experienced “lulls.” (Also, the GPO was founded in 1911, not 1912.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.133.173.231 (talk) 23:00, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notable people

I removed the refimprove tag from this section. Everything in it is a link to a (presumably properly referenced) Wikipedia article. The few exceptions have their own citations. Lou Sander (talk) 23:03, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
