Merge from Lipstick camera

[edit]

The article at Lipstick camera should be merged with this, as both have the same subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.152.152.126 (talk) 07:40, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree - Helmet cameras are different than a small camera that is built to be concealed --Alex.baller (talk) 14:30, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also oppose merge: see Talk:Lipstick camera. --Colapeninsula (talk) 11:29, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sources in the 'History' section

[edit]

So, a while back I added the tag to the history section. I can only find a blog post [1] that links Mark Shulze to the invention of the helmet camera, and (no offense to the author) I don't think it qualifies as a reliable source under WP:BLOGS. Can anyone find a better source than that? If not, I'll probably go ahead and remove that section. --Pyro||3d 06:58, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Error? First helmet cam

[edit]

According to the On Any Sunday article, the movie (released 1971) included the use of helmet cams as follows: "Brown also used a helmet camera on some of the riders, one of the first times something like that had been attempted. This was before the days of miniature cameras and the set-up was often quite bulky on the rider’s helmet". It is therefore impossible for the first helmet cam to be the 1987 one as discussed at length in this article. 152.91.9.167 (talk) 05:53, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My first helmet CAM was built, by me, in 1978, a 2 pound super-8 movie camera mounted on the side of my stars and striped Easy Rider helmet, had a metal strap around it that held the push-pin end of the trigger cable as if my thumb was pushing it, attached to a 3' airline to a ball in my mitten. When I squeezed my pole the air pushed the pin simulating my thumb on the camera's button. So Mark Schulze is very wrong, he was WAY LATER than my building of the 1st helmet CAM, at least the 1st one ever used for skiing!! This article also seems to suggest that helmet cameras go back as far as the 60s, as Jackie Stewart wore one at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1966. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexforey (talkcontribs) 22:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Applications section

[edit]

Why is this even remotely relevant to the applications section?

In Glasgow, Magnatom is the most famous advocate of helmet cameras and regularly appears on television and YouTube.[14]
