Henry VI of England: Numbering as king of France

[edit]

King Charles VII (of France)'s pretention that Henry's coronation was somehow "invalid" and that he had "never been" king of France has been upheld to this day, at least by (some) French dictionaries and other references (even though Henry actually governed France through a regent), so he shares with Emperor Charles the Fat the dubious honour of being "unnumbered" in the lists of French kings by name. "King Henry II of France" is reckoned to have been a later king (born 1519, crowned 1547, died 1559), son of François I.

So I'm removing the number II from "Henry II of France" next to Henry VI (of England)'s name. Tonymec 09:36, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
